Reston College Students Recognized For Academic Achievements

RESTON, VA — Many college students from Reston are hard at work studying during the fall 2021 semester. Others have be recognized for academic achievements in previous semesters.

Here are some of the college students from Reston who have achieved academic accolades at their schools:

Alexander Allen of Reston graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic's Port Orange, Florida campus, on Sept. 24.

James Finn of Reston was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Virginia Commonwealth University. Finn is among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be invited into Phi Kappa Phi, which is the oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Alexander Kunkel of Reston recently earned a master of science in analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. Kunkel was among approximately 1,480 undergraduate and graduate students who earned degrees during the Summer 2021 semester.

Olivia Fournier of Reston was named to the dean's list for academic excellence at Biola University in La Mirada, California. A music major, Biola is one of approximately 1,700 student named to the dean's list for the spring 2021 semester. To be placed on the dean's list, a student must have a GPA of 3.6 or higher while enrolled in 12 or more credits and whose cumulative GPA is at least 3.2.

Tambria L. Schroeder of Reston received a $1,000 scholarship from Omicron Delta Kappa to attend graduate school at Queen's University Belfast. Schroeder graduated summa cum laude from The College at Brockport, State University of New York in May 2017 with a bachelor of arts with a major in political science and international studies. She also earned a bachelor of Science with a major in women's studies.

Schroeder has been an active student at SUNY Brockport, where she was co-coordinator of the Honors College Peer Mentor Program and a student member of the College Senate. She also helped lead a Campus Action Grant funded by the American Association of University Women and served as the president of the SUNY Brockport Circle. Schroeder received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in recognition of her academic and leadership achievements as a student. After graduation, she worked as a contractor or the U.S. Department of State.
