Reston, Herndon Metro Stations Now Past 60% Completion: Report

The stations are slated to open in 2020, but they could be 95 percent complete next year.

RESTON/HERNDON, VA — The second phase of the Silver Line, which will include a station at Reston Town Center and two in Herndon, has soared past the 60 percent completion mark and should be more than 95 percent complete as early as late next year.

In a quarterly update to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority presented on Wednesday, Capital Rail Constructors report that steel erection at the Reston Town Center station will continue through August, while the Herndon Station will finish metal decking by the end of this month as well.

The 11.4-mile project started back in 2013 and will include three other stations, including a Dulles Airport station, in addition to the Reston Town Center and two Herndon stations.

Unfortunately for eager riders, the stations won't be open for business until 2020, even though the schedule indicates near-100 percent complete by mid 2019.
