Reston Man Arrested For Five Break-Ins, Robberies In Fairfax City

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — A 45-year-old Reston man was arrested on Friday in connection with a series of robberies that took place earlier this month in Fairfax City, according to City of Fairfax Police.

Officers responded around 8:45 a.m., on Aug. 8, for the report of a robbery at the Halalway Supermarket at 4072 Jermantown Road, according to police. Investigators determined that a man had forced is way into the store and stole money.

In the second incident, officers responded around 3:34 a.m., on Aug. 12, for an alarm at the Shell Gas Station located at 11175 Lee Highway. A preliminary investigation revealed that a man forced his way ingot the business, causing damage, according to police.

On Aug. 13, three businesses located on Jermantown Road in Fairfax City reported that a man had broken into their buildings and stole money. The robberies occurred in the same general area as the first two break-ins:

• Woodlands Restaurant, 4078 Jermantown Road
• Il Poom Hyang Restaurant, 4068 Jermantown Road
• Dairy Queen, 4079 Jermantown Road

Though their investigation, detectives identified 45-year-old Fawad Fafa of the 11500 block of Woodhollow Court in Reston as a suspect in the case. Police arrested Fafa on Friday and served him with five warrants for burglary. He was held without bond in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Fafa was arrested numerous times since 2001 for various crimes, including petty larceny, grand larceny, and destruction of property, according to court records.

Fafa's most recent court appearance was a July 11 hearing in Fairfax County Circuit Court on a charge of entering a dwelling house, etc., with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery or other felony, according to court records. Fafa pleaded guilty and agreed to pay the victim $300 in restitution.
