Reston Murder Suspect's Hearing Closed To The Public: Report
The 17-year-old, who has not been identified, is accused of killing his girlfriend's parents at their Reston home in December.

A Fairfax County juvenile court judge has decided to close to the public a hearing for a Lorton teenager accused of murdering his girlfriend's parents in their Reston home, according to a report.
The Washington Post, which registered an objection, reported that Judge Thomas P. Sotelo agreed to a motion to close the hearing because public defender Dawn Butorac argued that the hearing would include "sensitive information" about the teen.
The teen was arrested on charges of killing 48-year-old Scott Fricker and 43-year-old Buckley Kuhn-Fricker. The couple reportedly was concerned about the teen's alleged neo-Nazi views and had barred their daughter from dating him. Police believe he sneaked into their house early in the morning Dec. 22 and shot them both when they confronted him.

Despite the charges, the teen is still charged as a juvenile and has not been identified. Juvenile court hearings in Virginia can be open to the public if the defendant was at least 14 years old at the time of the offense, and the offense would be a felony if charged as an adult.
However, the judge decided that the hearing "might feature information about previous charges against the teen," the report states.

The teen, who has been identified by the Huffington Post as Nicholas Giampa, shot himself in the head after the killings but he survived after a lengthy hospital stay, police say.
