Reston Swim Team Association Marks Midpoint of 2022 Summer Season

Last Saturday's meets saw three team records broken. RSTA swimmers break from competition this holiday weekend.

On Saturday, June 25, RSTA teams competed in their third of six dual meets scheduled for summer 2022, marking the half-way point of the season. After the third week of competition, two teams still remain undefeated — the Autumnwood Piranhas and the Glade Dolphins.

Below are the scores for Week 3 meets:
Autumnwood 501, North Hills 459
Glade 560, Lake Newport 450
Lake Anne 516, Hunters Woods 416
Ridge Heights 504, Lake Audubon 425

Three team records were broken, one by Lauren Wagner of the Glade Dolphins and two by Michael Zhou of the Lake Newport Lightning.

  • Lauren Wagner (17) beat her own Glade team record in the Girls 15-18 50m Breaststroke that she set one year ago, by 0.23 seconds, with a time of 35.90 seconds.
  • Michael Zhou (14) topped his own team record in the Boys 13-14 50m Breaststroke, that he had set at the end of last season, by 0.12 seconds. He also set a new Lake Newport team record in the Boys 13-14 50m Butterfly, beating the record set by Ben Miller in 2001 by 0.20 seconds with a time of 29.22 seconds.

Saturday, July 2 is a bye week for all RSTA teams. Dual meet competition will resume on Saturday, July 9 and be followed by the annual RSTA Individual Medley (IM) Finals Meet on Wednesday, July 13 at 6pm at Lake Newport Pool.
