Reston Town Center-Based Company in Hot Water After Bombshell AP Report

RESTON, VA — A Reston defense company is under fire after the Associated Press published a bombshell report accusing them of rampant corruption while securing a U.S. base in Iraq.

The AP report claims that Sallyport, located at 11921 Freedom Drive in Reston Town Center, has received more than $700 million in federal contracts to secure Balad Air Base in Iraq, which hosts a squadron of F-16 fighter jets used to attack the Islamic State. Two former employees of Sallyport, Robert Cole and Kristie King, claim they were fired for blowing the whistle on rampant corruption in the company.

Cole and King were investigating misconduct at Balad and elsewhere when they were fired, but not before the found evidence of sex trafficking, smuggling alcohol, stolen generators, and many other instances of misconduct on base, according to the AP report.

Sallyport strongly denied the allegations, with Chief Operating Officer Matt Stuckart saying in the report that "the company takes any suggestion of wrongdoing at Balad very seriously."

The AP says it has obtained 150 documents and conducted interviews with multiple former and current Sallyport employees that show the contractor "ran amok" after being hired under the lucrative contract.
