Reston Town Center A 'Magnet' For Tenants: BXP Exec

Boston Properties said during their quarterly conference call that demand for space at RTC was surging.

RESTON, VA -- Despite recent reports of tenants leaving Reston Town Center, Boston Properties is pleased with the performance of the urban space, with one executive saying during Wednesday's quarterly conference that RTC was a "magnet" for tenants.

The executive said that BXP had recently settled seven transactions for more than 200,000 square feet of space, and the company was working on locking down another 300,000 square feet, predominantly from lease expirations.

Angst over the introduction of paid parking more than a year ago has caused several tenants to leave Reston Town Center. Boston Properties scaled back hours, but BXP vice president Peter Johnston told Patch last year that paid parking was here to stay. He also said despite the departures, RTC was quite healthy and the amount of space that had been vacated was not unusual.
