Reston's South Lakes High Surges in New Poll

RESTON, VA — South Lakes High's huge win over previously unbeaten Madison this past weekend did not go unnoticed: the Reston high school has made a giant leap in the polls and is now officially considered among the area's elite.

The Washington Post's weekly poll of the best teams in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia area now has the Seahawks at No. 8, a gigantic jump from where they sat last week, which was No. 18. Last week's No. 8 was Madison, who South Lakes defeated 21-13.

That makes South Lakes the highest ranking Virginia team on the Post's Top 20 list.

DeMatha remains in the No. 1 spot after beating No. 4 Gonzaga on Saturday. Gonzaga is now just one spot above South Lakes on the list.
