Sale at Davelle Yields Large Charity Donation

Reston Town Center's Davelle Clothiers gives back with suits and money for Goodwill of Greater Washington

Davelle Clothiers donated $10,500 to Goodwill of Greater Washington, money raised from its recent Trade-In event.

The contribution last week from the menswear store at Reston Town Center represented five percent of the net sale proceeds during The Trade-In event (Oct. 15 to Nov. 4), where customers brought in their old suits and received discounts for new clothes.

"We are so pleased to be able to support Goodwill of Greater Washington’s work in transforming lives," said Davelle CEO David Eisele.

Goodwill of Greater Washington is in the midst of the Jobs in ‘12 campaign, a community-wide effort to put our region’s most vulnerable citizens back to work.  Their goal is to train, equip, and place 200 people into new local jobs.

The store also donated new suits to Goodwill, which will aid Goodwill customers who are looking for jobs, said Catherine Meloy, the nonprofit's president and CEO.

“Goodwill’s mission is to transform lives and communities through the power of education and employment”, said Meloy. “It is only as a result of the generous support of organizations like Davelle Clothiers that we are able to provide others with hope, dignity and independence.  The Trade-In event was a unique partnership that yielded a substantial contribution of both cash and donated goods that will ultimately lead to sustainable employment and a better quality of life for the people Goodwill serves.”
