Seahawks soar to first Baron Cameron Bowl win since 2002
South Lakes dominates crosstown rival Herndon 43-0.
Going into last night's Baron Cameron Bowl - the annual South Lakes vs. Herndon football showdown - the Seahawks had just one victory (in 2002) in the 12 meetings since the official trophy started being engraved.
After last night's rain-soaked 43-0 victory, the Seahawks can now chisel their name in as the 2010 victors.
"We haven't beaten them in forever," said South Lakes senior tailback Ja'Juan Jones. "It was great. I felt like we just stunned them. They weren't ready for us."

The Seahawks are now 3-0 under new coach Andy Hill.
Jones' dynamic play making ability helped the Seahawks early in the game.
Following a Sean Price blocked punt that was recovered by Deon King at
the Herndon 16-yard line, Hill decided to unload his playbook.

Jones took a halfback pitch and then passed to Darius Smith in the
corner of the end zone to give the Seahawks their first score.
"We practiced it all week," Jones said. "I don't have the best arm,
but Darius and his jumping ability made me look good."
Hill said that his team was going to run the halfback pass on the
first offensive set no matter what, but didn't expect to get the ball
at the 16-yard line.
"I'm super excited that we blocked that punt," Hill said. "I told the
kids that we've been close and how important it is to block a punt. I
read if a team blocks a punt, then there's a 92-percent chance that
team will end up winning."
South Lakes junior Stepfon Sanford recovered the ensuing kickoff and
the flood gates opened. Ja'Juan Jones scored his second touchdown,
this time on the ground for a 5-yard touchdown to give the Seahawks an
early two touchdown lead.
The game was easy for the Seahawks after that.
Senior wide receiver Sean Price later scored on a 62-yard sweep and
followed great blocking with his breakaway speed to give
South Lakes a commanding 21-0 lead after the first quarter.
With one play left in the first-half and the ball at the Herndon
44-yard line South Lakes didn't try a Hail Mary. Instead they ran a
play that Herndon couldn't stop all night - the wide receiver motion
sweep. It worked with Darius Smith finding a small crease and then
demonstrating his speed to take the toss to the house and give South
Lakes a 29-0 halftime lead.
"Anytime you score at the end of the half is huge," Hill said.
In the second-half, South Lakes wide receiver Sean Price scored on a
65-yard touchdown run. The Seahawks scoring was capped off by a
Rashaan Jones to Darius Smith 16-yard touchdown fade pass on a
fourth-and-six to finalize the scoring.
After allowing only seven points in three victories that include two
shutouts, the Seahawks have found continuity on defense.
South Lakes stopped Herndon three times on downs in the red zone and
gave Herndon's predominant running offense fits all night.
"I thought our defense has done a great job," Hill said. "Zeroes are
always good."
The 3-0 Seahawks next game is Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Marshall.
