'Significant' Snowstorm In DC, NoVa Possible This Weekend: Report
Forecasts are starting to solidify, and it's looking increasingly possible that we'll see a good bit of the white stuff this weekend.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m.: Bad news, snow fans (and great news, snow haters). While it's possible things might change in the coming days, there's been a major development:
The UKMet, which is the second best global weather model, was predicting a major Mid-Atlantic winter storm for Sunday-Monday, 24 hours ago. Today, it's gone - weak and way out to sea. Remarkable change. More info: https://t.co/ekbW4jcPDr pic.twitter.com/b5PV4eGHAf

To say it has been a bust of a winter in the D.C. and Northern Virginia area as far as snowfall for the 2017-18 season would be an understatement. But current weather models suggest that we could be in for some "significant" snowfall this weekend, according to a report.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang states that weather models have been shifting toward a potential storm that could drop a lot of snow on Sunday and Monday -- although nothing is locked in yet.
"A high-impact storm capable of producing large amounts of snow, rain and wind, as well as coastal flooding, is a realistic scenario for Sunday and Monday," they state. "However, there is still the chance the storm will miss."

As is usually the case in March, more snow would fall north and west of D.C. where temperatures are likely to be cooler. (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. If you have an iPhone, click here to get the free Patch iPhone app; download the free Patch Android app here.)
Unfortunately, right now things are so up in the air that CWG isn't even giving a range of possible snowfall totals. Once again, there's also the possibility that temperatures stay warm enough that it ends up being a rain event. So we'll have to watch the forecasts closely in the coming days.
Meanwhile, in New England, a Nor'easter continues to pound the area with snow. They're up to 36 inches and counting, as we sit here snowless. Is our turn next?
