SLHS Sports: Girls Lax Dominates Falls Church

South Lakes Girls Lacrosse opened its home schedule Wednesday with a 14-5 victory over Falls Church.

The girls jumped to an early lead when senior captain Maria Leith scored just over a minute into the first half. The Seahawks went up 2-0 when Kenzie Hughes, also a senior captain, scored her first of seven straight goals that gave South Lakes an 8-4 lead.

Goals were then contributed by Sadie Belt, Christina Woodward, Leah Duffy, and two from Sara Hawes.

Hughes added one more during the second half and the girls walked away with the victory. The Seahawks will play only four home games this season.

Due to Tuesday’s inclement weather, the Seahawks have back-to-back games and face Dominion High School Thursday night at Dominion.
