Sobriety Checkpoint In Reston Wednesday Night

Drunk drivers, beware: Fairfax County Police will be looking for drunk drivers in the Reston area on Wednesday night.

RESTON, VA — Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in Reston on Wednesday night.

The checkpoint will take place from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m., according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police have not specified where in the Reston area it will be.

It's the second sobriety checkpoint in the Reston area in the last two weeks, and the third since May.

A first DUI offense is classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia, which can result in fines ranging from $250 to $2,500 and a one-year license suspension. The punishment increases for those arrested with blood-alcohol content of 0.15 percent or higher, which brings a minimum five-day jail sentence.
