South Lakes Football Team's Perfect Season Ends, Falls to Hayfield
The Seahawks' defense was overwhelmed by Hayfield's potent passing attack.

RESTON, VA — South Lakes High School's quest for a perfect football season ended on Friday, as the Seahawks fell to Hayfield 38-28.
South Lakes had put up a dream season, going undefeated until this most recent game and rising to No. 8 on the Washington Post's ranking of the best high school teams in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The Reston school had been the highest ranking Virginia team on the list.
However, on homecoming night, Hayfield proved to be too much of an offensive powerhouse for the normally stingy Seahawks defense, according ot a report from South Lakes Athletics.

"Going into the game, the Seahawks knew they had to contain Keeney, the leading passer in the Washington Post region, and Cobbs, a big-strong, and nearly unstoppable receiver," the report stated. "But it wasn’t to be: Keeney completed 36 of 48 passes for 400 yards, while Cobbs had 16 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns."
South Lakes is now 8-1 overall and 5-1 in Conference 6. Even so, the Seahawks will have a good seed going into the playoffs in two weeks. Hayfield is now 8-1 overall, and 6-0 in Conference 6, while South Lakes travels to 0-9 Fairfax to finish their regular season.
