Basketball: SLHS Girls Fall in State Tourney

Seahawks ousted in 55-53 loss to Stonewall Jackson.

South Lakes High School's girls basketball team postseason run came to an end Friday in a 55-53 loss to Manassas Stonewall Jackson in a Virginia AAA state tournament quarterfinal game at Robinson High School.

The Seahawks (23-6) wrap up a stellar season in which the team, ranked in the Washington Post's Top 20 for much of the season, advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 1986.

But even with several injured players, No. 10 Stonewall Jackson (24-3) held off the Seahawks down the stretch for the victory - the 16th straight for the Raiders.
