The Seahawks began the game in horrific fashion making numerous unforced errors and turnovers allowing the Statesmen to jump out to a 6 goal to 1 lead midway through the first half. True to form, however, the Seahawks never gave up and continued hustling to stay somewhat in the game. Fleet-of-foot freshmen Alex Heishman and Jesse Lynch ran down ground balls providing the Seahawks with desperately needed possessions of the ball.

Senior Captains Gabrielle Parisi and Katie Thomas had dandy assists to Senior Captain and sharp-shooter extraordinaire Megan Greatorex for two goals for the Seahawks. Aggressive hustle by Senior defenders Ebony-Mitchell-Goodfellow and Nicole Salvatore kept the Marshall onslaught at bay, although the Seahawks still entered halftime trailing by five goals.

Hope was not lost, however, as Tamara Newman, perhaps the teams most vociferous cheerleader, entered the stadium at half time to provide the team with the emotion needed to stage a big comeback.

The second half started with Greatorex scoring two more goals and assisting on a goal by Sophomore attack Anna Tignor. The Seahawks, however, still trailed by five goals, 5 to 10, with 20 minutes left in the game.

The Seahawks then began a furious rally. Junior Emma Rygiel scored on a free position, and draw controls by midfielder Taylor Newman-Farr and Junior Chanel Stringer and ground ball scoops by Junior Kristina Woodward set up a barrage of goals by Greatorex to tie the score at eleven with two minutes remaining.

The Seahawks then took the lead with a minute remaining on Greatorex’s final tally, which according to the team’s Ivy-League trained scorekeeper, Jason Lynch, was her 10th goal of the game. The Seahawks held off a furious rally by Marshall, as Senior Goalie Caitlyn Maginniss made two crazy saves on free positions in the last seconds of the game. The Seahawks stormed off the field having grabbed victory from the jaws of defeat.

The Kardiac Kids have three games remaining as they position themselves for the playoffs.

In much less dramatic fashion, in the early JV game, the Seahawks continued their dominating ways, prevailing 14 to 1 against Marshall to run their record to seven wins against only one loss.
