South Lakes Seahawks Get Big Win Over Briar Woods High
Briar Woods is ranked higher statewide, but the Seahawks pulled out a 28-21 victory on the road.
ASHBURN, VA — South Lakes High School scored a big win on the road in Ashburn this weekend against Briar Woods High School, and is now 2-0 to start the season.
The 28-21 by the Seahawks over the Briar Woods Falcons, who fall to 1-2, came even after a late fumble on a promising drive resulted in an 82-yard game-tying touchdown, according to a report by South Lakes High School. But the team came back with a long drive that they finished with an 11-yard touchdown, putting the Seahawks up 28-21 with just a few minutes to go, and that would prove to be the ending score.
The game provided a measure of revenge for South Lakes: the Seahawks lost 24-20 to Briar Woods last year.
