Stunning Photo Of Great Falls Shows Violent Whitewater
More than 5 inches of rain have now fallen in the D.C. area in the last week.

GREAT FALLS, VA -- If you want an idea of the incredible effect a rainy week like this can have on the area, take a look at just how violent Great Falls has become after tons of rain have been dumped on the area in the last week.
The photos, embedded below, show Great Falls at normal levels and Great Falls now, with violent whitewater crashing over the rocks.
The D.C. area has now gone over 5 inches of rain in the last week, compared to a normal of 3.99 inches for the entire month of May, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. In fact, some areas have seen more than 8 inches of rain. And we have plenty of rain yet to go before we're in the clear.
