Suspicious Package In Reston: Man Arrested, Claimed It Was Bomb
Several Reston businesses were evacuated Wednesday as a result of the threat.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County police have arrested a Reston man in connection with a suspicious package reported Wednesday. According to police, Timothy Stein, 54, was arrested and charged with felony bomb threat, felony hoax explosive device and trespassing in connection with the incident that caused police to evacuate the area surrounding 11830 Spectrum Center.
Police said Stein entered the Verizon store at that address just before 3:30 p.m. and placed a suspicious package on the counter, indicating to an employee it was a bomb. Stein was previously banned from entering the store, according to police.
The threat caused police to evacuate several surrounding businesses and ask residents to avoid the area. Members of the Fairfax County Special Operations Division responded to assist in the investigation, and officials deemed the package safe several hours later.
