These Areas in Reston Would be Open to More Growth Under New Amendments
Supervisor Cathy Hudgins is holding meetings next month over a pair of amendments that would allow more population density per acre.

RESTON, VA — Fairfax County Board Supervisor and Reston representative Cathy Hudgins has announced a meeting to discuss amendments that would change current zoning ordinance limits in certain areas to allow for a greater density of people per acre, accommodating future development in Reston.
Fairfax County updated the Comprehensive Plan for Reston in 2014 and 2015 to call for future growth to be focused around the three nearby Metro stations -- the current Wiehle-Reston East Metro station and future Reston Town Center and Herndon Metro stations -- but the current zoning ordinance limits residential density in parts of those areas to 13 persons per acre.
"An update to the Zoning Ordinance is needed to accommodate implementation of the adopted Comprehensive Plan, including to the persons per acre limitation on residential development," according to a statement from Hudgins.
