Unstoppable: South Lakes High Shocks Unbeaten Madison

RESTON, VA — Reston's South Lakes High School football team just can't stop winning, even when they get matched up with one of the toughest teams in the region. The Seahawks are now 7-0 after beating Madison High School 21-13 this weekend, a team that was also unbeaten and ranked No. 8 in the Washington Post's weekly ranking of the region's top high school football teams.

South Lakes was No. 18, but is sure to move up after this big win. The Seahawks were beaten by Madison 38-6 last year.

It was a highly anticipated matchup. A vote by WTOP radio named South Lakes vs. Madison as the Game of the Week, and lots of local media was on hand to cover it, according to a report from South Lakes Athletics.

The Seahawks controlled the play all game long, leading 21-7 until late in the game when Madison was able to get a touchdown with just 3:51 left (the extra point was blocked).

It was quite a defensive performance, considering Madison's offense was averaging 34.8 points per game entering the matchup.
