Update on Latest Snow Forecast for Friday Morning in Reston
Latest forecasts for immediate DC metro/Northern Virginia area. Capital Weather Gang expects school delays/closings for areas west of I-95.

Weather forecasters Thursday afternoon are saying that the DC metro/Northern Virginia area could see a last gasp from Old Man Winter Friday morning, with anywhere from 0-2 inches of snow hitting Northern Virginia. It will likely be a mix of rain and snow with accumulation mainly on grassy areas, according to several forecasters.
Spring officially begins Friday at 6:45 p.m. ET. Any snow that pelts the area should be gone by then.
The Capital Weather Gang says, for Friday morning: “We’ve increased the most likely snow accumulation in the immediate metro area to a coating to 2 inches, from a coating to 1 inch, as we see the potential for several hours of steady snow.”

The wintry mix could impact the morning commute. Driving could be tricky, as much of the snow is expected to fall before sunrise with below-freezing temperatures according to The Gang, who also say they expect to see delays/closings for some schools west of I-95.
Here’s what the National Weather Service is saying about most of Northern Virginia today through Saturday:

- Thursday: Cloudy. A chance of rain and snow after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. Lows in the mid 30s. Southeast winds around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.
- Friday: Rain and snow. Snow accumulation up to 1 inch. Highs in the lower 40s. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
If you’re making plans for Friday night, it gets better, but not much, according to the NWS: Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain in the evening. Lows in the mid 30s. North winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.
The best weather day will be Saturday: Sunny and in the mid-50s, according to the weather service.
