Work Near Wiehle May Affect Traffic
Delivery and assembly of Traction Power Substation Scheduled for April 16-19.

Beginning on or about Monday, April 16 and continuing through April 19, the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project will deliver and assemble a Traction Power Substation (TPSS) adjacent to the westbound Dulles Toll Road near the Wiehle Avenue westbound entrance ramp. The right hand lane of the westbound Dulles Toll Road will be closed during the delivery and assembly activities.
The logistics for the deliveries are planned as follows (weather dependent):
- Monday, April 16, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., a large crane will be delivered and set up on the site via the right lane closure on the Toll Road.
- Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17 and 18, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.,large trucks carrying the modular elements of the TPSS will be delivered to the site and lifted into place by the crane. Upon arrival, each truck will immediately pull into the lane closure adjacent to the site.
- Thursday, April 19, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the crane will be disassembled and removed from the site.
The transporters carrying the modular elements of the TPSS will enter Virginia via I-81 south, and then will take Route 7 east, Route 28 south, and Route 606 west to get to the staging area at Washington Dulles International Airport.

From there, the deliveries will be staggered to ensure that no trucks are parked on ramps or roadways at or near the delivery site. From the airport, the trucks will travel north on Pacific Boulevard to Route 606, to Route 28, to Sterling Boulevard, to Route 7, to Fairfax County Parkway, to Sunset Hills Road, to Wiehle Avenue south, and will enter the site from the entrance ramp to the westbound Dulles Toll Road.
