You Won't Believe How Long it Takes to Metro to Reston From DC Right Now
The general manager of Car2Go in D.C. decided to see how Metro was holding up after the derailment.

With portions of the Orange and Silver lines still closed Sunday after the derailment of a train near the East Falls Church station on Friday, you'd expect it to take a while to take the Metro to Reston -- but the actual length of the journey is staggering.
Car2Go's D.C. general manager Aaron Landry decided to test it out himself on Sunday, setting off from Dupont Circle and finally arriving at Reston 96 minutes later -- suggesting that unless you're truly desperate for transportation, there's almost no reason to take the Metro at all if you live in Reston until things are fixed.
Metro rail service from D.C. into Virginia stops at the Ballston station on the Orange and Silver lines as the East Falls Church station remains closed, forcing anyone who wants to get to Reston to get on a shuttle bus and take it to the McLean station, where they can then get back on the train and finally continue the journey to Reston.

Landry noted that during his trip, people didn't appear to realize the train stopped at Ballston.
"At Ballston where some people are deciding to stay on the train," he wrote. "Apparently it isn't clear the train is going back."

After boarding the Ballston to McLean shuttle bus, Landry observed a "woman complaining and swearing, two playing Pokémon, everyone else gazing out the windows."
The trip took 25 minutes, and afterward Landry boarded the Silver Line to finally conclude the exhausting journey.
