Residents from Richmond and Henrico describe feeling shocked, discouraged, or vindicated, while local election officials stress that the vote still mattered and urge people not to give up on participating in future elections.
2. Richmond to install Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at intersection as part of ‘Vision Zero' (wric.com) — Richmond is installing a new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon at Hull Street and East 29th Street to make crossing safer for people who walk and bike. Construction starts this month and will last through the summer, bringing new crosswalks, countdown signals, curb ramps and occasional lane and sidewalk closures. Drivers are urged to slow down in the work zone and watch for changing signals.
3. Woodland Cemetery added to National Register of Historic Places (nbc12.com) — Woodland Cemetery in Richmond has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing more than a century of Black history and notable figures buried there. Local leaders hope the designation brings resources to continue restoration, expand tours, and help residents discover family and community connections across the cemetery’s roughly 30,000 graves.
4. Richmond Ivy beats Lancaster Inferno FC in 2026 season opener (wric.com) — Richmond soccer fans just saw the Ivy open their 2026 season with a 3-2 home win over Lancaster Inferno FC at City Stadium. A packed crowd watched goals from Maci Landel, Auburn standout Olivia Woodson, and Sunniyah Tucker. The Ivy now head on the road to face Virginia Development Academy this Friday night.
