Witness how people in Colonial America extracted, preserved and blended botanicals for cosmetic purposes. All attendees will gain an appreciation of the art and science of perfume making; learn why this was done for culinary, medicinal and cosmetic uses; experience a forgotten trade that was done in early Virginia; and enjoy a scent sampling of popular botanicals and blends that have endured the test of time.  A VA250 program sponsored by the Ashland Friends of the Library.

RICHMOND, VA (May 5, 2026) — AAA is partnering with IDEMIA, a TSA PreCheck® authorized enrollment provider, to host <a href="https://cluballiance.aaa.com/travel/tsa-precheck" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">signup event</a>s at the AAA Colonial Heights and AAA Chesterfield Towne Center locations.

Appointments for the four-day enrollment events are available from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. 
“We are rapidly approaching the busy Summer travel season,” says Morgan Dean, Public and Government Affairs Manager for AAA Club Alliance. “This TSA PreCheck® enrollment opportunity comes at a great time for travelers hoping to avoid long airport lines and looking to enjoy an expedited security screening experience.” 
With 906.7 million passengers screened, American airports were very busy during 2025. That’s an average of 2.48 million passengers per day. 
If approved, travelers get a five-year membership with the program. The program is open to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and lawful permanent residents. AAA members as well as the general public are welcome to participate in the signup event.
Enrolled members do not need to remove laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets. They are able to access TSA PreCheck® dedicated screening lanes at over 200 participating U.S. airports nationwide. 
AAA travel experts will also be on hand at the pop-up event to help book flights, hotels, cruises or other travel arrangements, provide travel planning resources, and offer a variety of luggage and other travel accessories to make trips more convenient and enjoyable.
AAA members and the general public can schedule appointments and pre-register online at <a href="https://cluballiance.aaa.com/travel/tsa-precheck?zip=23112&amp;devicecd=PC" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">AAA.com/TSA</a>
to participate. Appointments are limited and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so future travelers are urged to register as soon as possible. 
Pre-registration at <a href="https://tsaenrollmentbyidemia.tsa.dhs.gov/programs/precheck" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">TSA </a> should be completed in advance. You will finish the process onsite by providing your fingerprints for a background check. You will also need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. Your name on the documents must match exactly with your proof of identity. If they do not, bring an original or certified copy of a court ordered name change document (to include marriage certificates and divorce decrees). If you have a valid U.S. passport, you do not need multiple forms of ID.
Processing applications will be completed onsite. Follow these steps to schedule an appointment and pre-enroll:

 and click “make your appointment today” near the bottom of the page.</li>
 <li>Click “New Enrollment” at the top of the next page. </li>
 <li>Fill out each page of the online application, choosing “Next” at the bottom of each screen to advance the form.</li>
 <li>Next, type in your location at Zip Code/City/Airport Code box and then search.</li>
 <li>Choose the Pop-up Event and select AAA as the location and click “Next.”</li>
 <li>Select your desired appointment time (Please be sure to make note of your appointment time; no reminders will be sent out). IDEMIA agents will process applications onsite. </li>

IDEMIA offers TSA PreCheck® for an enrollment fee of $76.75, which can be paid by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
Following the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in about three to five days. The KTN number must be added to flight reservations to enjoy TSA PreCheck® benefits. 
Children 12 and under may accompany an enrolled parent or guardian in the TSA PreCheck® lanes without restriction. Children ages 13-17 may join enrolled adults in the dedicated lanes when traveling on the same reservation and if the TSA PreCheck® indicator appears on the child's boarding pass.

A database of more than 1,200 surgeons, both Union and Confederate, is the basis for her new book, Gettysburg Surgeons: Facing a Common Enemy in the Civil War’s Deadliest Battle.
