Chesterbrook Academy Celebrates Earth Day with Gardening Projects

Students recognized Earth Day by planting flowers and vegetables around their school and making bird feeders

On April 22, students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool on Old Pump Road in Richmond celebrated Earth Day by completing gardening projects and creating bird feeders. Pre-K students used a gelatin recipe to create bird feeders that will be placed around the school. Intermediate-age students planted flowers and vegetables – including tomato, onion, cucumber and pepper seeds – in the school’s gardens and planters. Students will continue to care for the vegetables throughout the spring and will later harvest them to be used in school lunches. Chesterbrook Academy teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
