Golden Corral reopens with indoor dining, new Express Entrance

RICHMOND, VA (July 5, 2021) – Platinum Corral, a multi-unit franchise operator of Golden Corral© restaurants, today announced its Richmond, Virginia, location at 11 South Providence Road has reopened to serve guests in the dining room and with expanded to-go options in accordance with all local and state guidelines.

Starting July 5, hours of operation are 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday with expanded hours on the weekends, including breakfast offerings starting at 8 a.m. Friday through Sunday and open late until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Drive Thru will resume operations by Friday, July 9.

The Richmond Golden Corral is among the first to feature individual entrée options for those who want to order from a menu. These new entrées that feature comfort food classics can be enjoyed while dinning in or through the restaurant’s new Express Entrance and drive-up service, allowing guests to skip the lines and pick up food for carry-out. The Richmond location also offers easy online ordering via the new Golden Corral Rewards app, where loyal guests can register to earn special rewards.

The approximately 11,000 square foot restaurant received an interior and exterior décor refresh and features an open layout and wide corridors well suited to accommodate social distancing. Golden Corral also offers a special private banquet space that is perfect for families and friends as they gather for special occasions.

“We invite the Richmond community to join us for multiple dining occasions as they reunite with loved ones over a delicious meal,” said Billy Sewell, president, Platinum Corral. “We are bringing back beef tips, chopped steak, ribeye and sirloin steaks as entrée options. Customers will also be able to enjoy some of our most popular sides, such as mac and cheese, butter beans, potato casserole and more.”

Golden Corral’s legendary endless buffet features an abundant variety of quality, made-from-scratch food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guests can enjoy a host of family favorites, including chicken, meat loaf, pot roast, bourbon street chicken, pork chops and fresh vegetables, as well as a selection of desserts including cakes, pies, banana pudding, ice cream and – every kid’s favorite – endless cotton candy.

The Golden Corral in Richmond currently employs 100 hourly workers, including previous employees and the management team who were rehired after the restaurant closed for 15 months due to the business impact of the pandemic. The restaurant is actively hiring for more front-of-house and back-of-house positions, including cashiers, servers, dishwashers and kitchen staff. Area Lead Mike Davis is offering a referral program as an added incentive for applicants. If a guest refers a potential employee, they will receive five free meals after their referral is employed for 30 days and an additional five free meals after their referral has been employed for 60 days.

With operations resuming, the restaurant has implemented COVID-19 protective procedures to ensure the health and well-being of their employees, guests and community, including offering sanitizer, gloves and napkins near the buffet bars, as well as keeping plates and bowls behind clear plexiglass barriers for additional sanitary protection. Gloves and napkin dispensers are positioned throughout the buffet for “no-touch” self-service options so that guests do not have to directly handle serving utensils. All sanitation measures have been pre-approved by the local health department.
