Pedestrian Identified, Vehicle And Driver Sought In Fatal Collision In Richmond

At approximately 2:15 a.m., Richmond Police were called to the 3200 block of Broad Rock Boulevard for the report of a hit and run.

The Richmond Police Department’s Crash Team has identified the victim in Saturday’s fatal hit and run on Broad Rock Boulevard as Sebastian Herrera-Cano, 36, of Richmond.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and striking vehicle. Investigators have determined the vehicle to be a 2020-2021 Ford Escape SUV, white in color. An image of the type of vehicle is attached.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., Richmond Police were called to the 3200 block of Broad Rock Boulevard for the report of a hit and run. Officers arrived and found a pedestrian, Herrera-Cano, injured after being struck by the passing Ford Escape. The driver of the vehicle had driven away from the scene. Herrera-Cano was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injury.

The RPD Crash Team is investigating. The vehicle will have damage to the front passenger side and possibly damage to the undercarriage on the right side of the vehicle.
