• The Brothers Young booked to perform at The White House (bluegrasstoday.com) — A young bluegrass duo from Roanoke, The Brothers Young, has been invited to perform Christmas music at the White House on December 13, a major honor they say will let them represent their hometown. They're also lining up a series of December bluegrass shows around the Roanoke area, so local fans can hear them close to home.
   

• 'Show the opportunity': Roanoke County high schoolers visit local manufacturing facilities (roanoke.com) — Roanoke County families may be interested that Glenvar High School students toured Medeco Security Locks in Salem for National Manufacturing Day, exploring hands-on career paths in local industry. The program, part of Roanoke County Public Schools' broader efforts, connects teens' skills with real manufacturing jobs available in our region.
   

• Public comment opportunities in Dominion-NextEra Energy deal (wdbj7.com) — Roanoke residents who get power from Dominion or NextEra-linked utilities can now submit comments on a proposed $67 billion merger that could reshape electric service across Virginia. The State Corporation Commission is accepting online comments through November 9 and will hold in-person and telephone hearings ahead of a final decision within six months.
