• 2 Arrested, More Than 760 Pounds Of Khat Seized In A Single Day At This VA Airport (patch.com) — Customs officers at Washington Dulles International Airport in Sterling recently arrested two men and seized 764 pounds of khat in one day, part of more than 1,000 pounds intercepted that week. Officials say Dulles and nearby airports are seeing a sharp rise in khat smuggling, with tens of thousands of pounds confiscated nationwide over the last two fiscal years.
   

• Subramanyam: Federal Agencies Open to Route 606 Alternative (blueridgeleader.com) — Residents in Sterling's school district are at the center of a fight over the Golden to Mars transmission line, as Rep. Suhas Subramanyam and other officials push Dominion to seriously consider a Route 606 or Westwind Drive alternative. Federal agencies now say they were never asked about using their land and are open to discussions, while Loudoun's School Board and county leaders appeal the current Route 3A plan to the Virginia Supreme Court.
