• VDOT alert: September 11-18, 2026 (nrvnews.com) — Expect intermittent nighttime slow-rolls on I-81 starting at the Troutville Rest Area and ramp closures near Exit 156 this week, which could significantly delay local trips. VDOT is also blasting and widening I-81 between Exits 143 and 150, with shifting traffic patterns, narrowed lanes, and frequent lane closures. Plan extra time, watch message boards, and consider alternate routes around Troutville.
