UPDATE: Northbound I-495 Reopened at American Legion Bridge
One person has been flown from the scene for treatment of serious injuries.
UPDATE: As of 12:49 p.m., all northbound lanes of I-495 at the American Legion Bridge were re-opened to traffic. Virginia State Police was called to the scene of the crash at 10:57 a.m., Wednesday, when a tractor-trailer jackknifed across the northbound lanes as it attempted to avoid striking an SUV that had lost control. The driver of the SUV was flown to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
