Wrong-Way Driver Caused 495 Crash that Closed Lanes Thursday
A Missouri driver hit three vehicles after entering the Northbound I-495 Express Lanes going the wrong way Thursday afternoon.

A driver got on I-495 traveling in the wrong direction Thursday and got into a head-on collision with another vehicle, causing a crash that closed the southbound lanes.
Police got reports of a silver Chevrolet Impala traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound 495 Express Lanes around 1 p.m., according to WTOP.
The driver, a 25-year-old Missouri man, suddenly exited the Express Lanes into the main southbound Beltway traffic. The Impala hit a trailer being towed by a pickup truck and then collided with a Toyota Corolla head-on. The crash caused the two cars to then hit a Honda.

The drivers of the Impala, Toyota and Honda were all taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital.
WTOP reports that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash. Police have not released the name of the man behind the wheel of the Impala but told the radio station that they will be pursuing charges against him.

The crash caused the southbound lanes of I-495 to close for more than an hour.
