• Nanotechnology IDs New Target for Treating Glaucoma (uvahealth.com) — UVA scientists in Charlottesville have identified a new genetic target for treating glaucoma using nanotechnology, potentially paving the way for one-time gene therapies that could replace daily eye drops. Their work created the first sustained high-pressure glaucoma mouse model and aligns with the new Paul and Diane Manning Institute of Biotechnology’s push to advance cutting-edge treatments from the University of Virginia.

• Former UVA Athletics consultant sponsors Women Leaders in Sports initiative (augustafreepress.com) — Women student-athletes and student workers at the University of Virginia are getting new access to national leadership training, thanks to scholarships funded by former UVA Athletics consultant and NFL executive Scott Pioli. Partnering with Women Leaders in Sports, the program connects UVA participants to mentoring, networking, and professional development alongside peers at the University of Iowa, expanding career pathways in the sports industry.
