• UVA researchers say new discovery could help explain stroke risk in young adults (29news.com) — University of Virginia researchers in Charlottesville are uncovering genetic clues that may explain why dangerous cervical artery dissections and strokes strike so many young adults. Their collaborative study across UVA’s neurology, genomics, and public health teams could eventually improve prediction, prevention, and treatment. Doctors also urge local residents of any age to learn stroke symptoms and understand their personal risk factors.
   

• Latest World Record Continues Stunning Ascension of Gretchen Walsh (swimmingworldmagazine.com) — A swimmer training at the University of Virginia has just broken the 50-meter freestyle world record, continuing a remarkable rise that began after she arrived in Charlottesville in 2021.
