• Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Coffee Shop Owner and Community Figure (mocoshow.com) — Vienna is mourning the loss of Caffè Amouri founder Michael Amouri, who died peacefully at home after a years-long battle with lung cancer. The longtime Church Street coffeehouse owner was remembered for building a beloved community gathering place, championing local causes, coaching youth sports, and serving on the Vienna Business Association board while promoting quality, sustainability, and coffee education.
• Vienna cookie shop and bubble tea cafe close for good (ffxnow.com) — Two popular dessert spots, ViVi Bubble Tea and Crumbl Cookies, have permanently closed their locations on Maple Avenue in the Town of Vienna, leaving empty storefronts now up for lease. Regulars can still redeem ViVi rewards at the Fairfax City cafe, while Crumbl is steering Vienna customers to its Falls Church shop with temporary discounts. The closures highlight shifting dessert trends locally, with two donut shops now vying for business on opposite sides of town.
• Vienna Dad Gets Five Kids Ready For School, Never Makes It Home From Construction Job In McLean (dailyvoice.com) — A Vienna family is grieving after 41-year-old father Elmer Fabricio Ventura Izaguirre died suddenly from a heart attack during his construction job in McLean, just hours after helping his five children get ready for school. The children, who attend Vienna-area schools, and their mother, Yesi Flores, have lost their sole breadwinner. Neighbors and local groups are rallying around them through a GoFundMe to cover funeral costs and everyday living expenses.
