ACPS: Two Schools Evacuated Wednesday Due to Gas Smell
First responders gave all-clear sign by 2 p.m., according to ACPS.

Students and staff at Alexandria’s Hammond and Polk schools were evacuated Wednesday due to a smell of gas, according to an alert from Alexandria City Public Schools.
The evacuation of Hammond Middle School took place at 12:30 p.m., when emergency responders arrived to investigate.
Polk Elementary and Hammond students and staff re-entered the buildings by 2 p.m., according to ACPS.
