Come cheer on the runners!
Even though it may rain Sunday, nothing stops the Marine Corp Marathon and Marine Corp 10k. This year marks the 37th year of the race, and an expected 30,000 people are running, and 100,000 come out to watch.
The race gets under way at 7:55 a.mm for both the Marathon and the 10k. The course has been changed up a bit this year, going a bit differently through Crystal City (miles 22 to 25). This is one of the best events this area puts on, and people from all over the world come to participate.

I am running the 10k, and my husband and I have been training with Team in Training for the race and raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. (check out our page). We are so excited for Sunday and don’t care if it rains or if a hurricane comes through. If you are looking for something to do, come cheer us (we’ll be in purple!) and the thousands of other runners on!
Also if you like running, Thanksgiving morning Alexandria has a 5-miler Turkey Trot that is a lot of fun. You'll find many people dressed in costumes. It’s a dog and stroller friendly race (but if you are one of those peeps, please remember to start in the back as not to trip up anyone). Lots of people come out of their homes along the race route to cheer you along. It's a great way to start you Thanksgiving and burn some calories before the big feast!!!
