California Tortilla Adding Second Location in Alexandria

California Tortilla, a fast-casual restaurant specializing in Mexican food, will be opening a new restaurant at Bradlee Shopping Center, according to KLNB Retail and new signage going up at the center. The 2,400-square foot restaurant is located between the Hallmark store and Subway.

The restaurant specializes in tacos, fajitas and burritos either ordered from the menu or “make your own,” where the customer chooses the ingredients. The menu also includes soups, chili, cookies and brownies.

California Tortilla already counts one restaurant in Alexandria, operating a location across the street from AMC Hoffmann Center 22 movie theater in Alexandria, at 301 Swamp Fox Road, and has numerous locations throughout Northern Virginia, including in Arlington, Reston, Fairfax, Lorton and Dulles. The company opened its first store in 1995 in Maryland and has about 40 franchised locations.

You can try out the menu with a free taco at one of its current locations on Tuesday. Here’s what the company is saying about the promotion:

“California Tortilla was recently voted “Best Mexican” in the Washingtonian Magazine’s Reader Survey/ Tuesday, August 12th we’re going to celebrate our win with free tacos.

That’s right—just go to any Cal Tort on Tuesday, August 12th and we’ll give you a free, delicious taco. All you have to do is say the secret password “Cal Tort rocks” to the spunky cashier. (I lobbied for “Mr. Pickles” as the password, but no one listens to me.)

Anyway, we hope you’ll come in on the 12th and enjoy a free taco on us. We couldn’t have done it without you!”
