City Collecting Loose, Bagged Leaves
Staff is collecting loose leaves in the West End this week.

Alexandria’s Solid Waste and Recycling Department is currently collecting loose leaves raked to the curb in parts of the West End.
Leaf collection is taking place this week in Zone 2, which covers the West End east of North Jordan Street and north of Seminary Road, as well as central Alexandria. Residents in Zone 1, which includes West End Alexandria west of North Jordan Street and south of Seminary Road, should rake out on Dec. 8, for pickup starting on Dec. 10. View a map of the zones here.
The city also collects leaves collected in paper bags one business day after the regular trash collection day through Jan. 4. Only paper bags, which can be shredded and processed with leaves into mulch, can be used, and all dirt, stones, litter and other debris from leaves must be removed.
