DC Police: Alexandria Resident Dies After Fatal Shooting in DC

Willard C. "Weedy" Shelton was a 1992 graduate of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, according to his Facebook page.

Detectives from DC’s Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that took the life of an Alexandria man Sunday morning in DC, according to a news release from DC police.

Willard Carlos “Weedy” Shelton, 38, died Sunday after he was shot in DC. Police found Shelton wounded from gunshots Sunday morning just after 7 a.m. in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road SE in DC, according to the release.

When police arrived on the scene, they located Shelton, suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Medical Emergency Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to his Facebook page, Shelton was a 1992 graduate of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
