Labor Day Weather: Threat of Storms Sunday and Monday
The National Weather Service issues hazardous weather alert for region.

Severe weather may impact some of the end-of-summer fun this Labor Day Weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected late Sunday afternoon and evening, according to the NWS. The area impacted includes Prince William, Arlington, Fairfax, Stafford and Spotsylvania counties, as well as Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax, Alexandria and Falls Church.
“Some thunderstorms may be severe, with the main threats of damaging winds, large hail and localized flash flooding,” according to the NWS.

The forecast for the region Sunday includes a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of showers Sunday night, possibly with thunderstorms before 9 p.m.

On Labor Day, there’s a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, with mostly cloudy skies the rest of the day. Monday night, there’s a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.
For the start of the school year, pack an umbrella in the book bag. The threat for storms will return Tuesday afternoon.
