January is National Mentoring Month, and the Alexandria Mentoring Partnership seeks adult mentors for children in need. As the COVID-19 pandemic and physical distancing have created a “new normal” for everyone, the need for mentoring is greater than ever.
Mentoring is proven to decrease risk factors associated with emotional well-being and success in school and life. Currently, two Alexandria Mentoring Partnership programs, Wright to Read and Casa Chirilagua, seek volunteers to provide virtual mentoring. Other mentoring programs are accepting applications to start in the fall of 2021. Be someone a child can turn to for guidance. No experience is necessary, and training is provided.
