Old Town is the Top Pick for New Retailers in Washington, DC
Carluccio's, Sara Campbell choose Alexandria for flagship locations in the region
Alexandria's historic charm and walkability have always been appealing to retailers. Now, the City is attracting new retailers who are looking to establish a presence in the DC region.
Earlier this week, news broke about Carluccio’s opening in Alexandria at 100 King St. The UK-based company has chosen Alexandria as its first U.S. store and is working on finalizing the concept for its offerings.
The company, which has several stores throughout the UK and Middle East, is going before the Alexandria Board of Architectural Review (BAR) on May 21st. The BAR will weigh in on the proposal for the new restaurant and gourmet market to move the current entrance to a new location on King Street, add lighting to highlight the building’s architectural features, and improve the outdoor dining space.

Carluccio’s is not the only new name in town. Later this month, Boston designer Sara Campbell will have a grand opening to celebrate their new store on 320 Prince Street, which opened on March 20th.
The store features women’s apparel and accessories. As Campbell states, “Our line is ideal for the lady who loves to dress. She can find everything from afternoon casual-wear, to an easy luncheon shift, to the perfect evening cocktail frock.”

Sara Campbell already has shops throughout New England, Florida, and Illinois, but the Alexandria location will be the first in the Washington, DC region.
Campbell says, ““We are truly delighted to be here in Old Town. This is a special community and we are so very proud to be a part of it. We look forward to becoming a “destination” where one can come to find special treasures or just have a nice visit and a glass of lemonade.”
