UPDATE: Police Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Alexandria

No injuries in Friday afternoon incident. Two in custody, according to Alexandria Police Department.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday afternoon in the 4200 block of Duke Street.

At approximately 4 p.m., undercover Alexandria Police detectives were conducting a narcotics operation involving two suspects, police said in a news release Friday night. A suspect brandished a gun and attempted to rob a detective and a struggle ensued, according to police. During the struggle, the detective fired one round from his firearm, police said. No one was injured, according to police.

Donta Boxley, 19, of Alexandria, and Nashay Tillis, 18, of Springfield were charged with Attempted Robbery, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, according to police. Boxley was also charged with Brandishing a Firearm, police said. They were both held without bond.
