Public Meeting Set for Proposed Chinquapin 50-Meter Indoor Pool, Renovation

Meeting is next Wednesday, to review and discuss potential site designs at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility.

The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities will host a public meeting on Wednesday, September 3 at 7 p.m. at the T.C. Williams High School Cafeteria, 3330 King St., to discuss the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility Feasibility Study. The study is exploring options for a new 50-meter indoor pool and renovated recreation pool at the facility. The current pool is a 25-meter pool.

In June 2014, at the first public meeting, the consultant team from Sterling-based Hughes Group, an architecture firm that specializes in designing fitness and aquatic centers, presented the findings from the Task-1A of the Feasibility Study and listened to community ideas about programming for the new and renovated pools. As part of the next phase of the study, the public is invited to review and discuss potential site designs, as well as learn about the market analysis completed by the consultants.
