ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Board of the Commonwealth Republican Women’s Club (CRWC) and the Executive Committee of the Alexandria Republican City Committee (ARCC) issued the following joint statement commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Alexandria Police Department (APD).

CRWC is the Alexandria chapter of both the Virginia and the National Federation of Republican Women (VFRW and NFRW). More information is available at www.alexandriacrwc.org . The Alexandria Republican City Committee (ARCC www.AlexGOP.org ) is the local branch of the national Republican Party.

On the 150th Anniversary of the Alexandria Police Department
On the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Alexandria Police Department (APD), we want to express our deep appreciation for the services provided by APD every hour of every day to serve the people of Alexandria.

We applaud APD’s efforts to continually improve its policies and procedures to ensure fair and respectful treatment for all members of our community.

We recognize that your work is difficult, stressful, and often dangerous. Your families worry more than most. APD’s long history includes officers killed and seriously injured in the line of duty. You deserve our respect, admiration, and support.

We acknowledge, and are grateful for, APD’s critical role in our community, protecting citizens’ rights, promoting public safety, and upholding the rule of law so that individual liberty can flourish and our city can thrive.

Thank you for your commitment, your sacrifices, and your belief in the people of this city. Please know that we believe in you.
