ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Alexandria Planning Commission will consider changes Tuesday to the mixed-use development with the Wegmans planned at Hoffman Town Center.

Developer StonebridgeCarras received approval for the project in 2018 and is now making changes to the plan. According to an application for amendments submitted to the city, the planned condo building will instead become a multifamily rental building. The height of the building, dubbed the West Tower, will be reduced from 200 feet 4 inches to 182 feet. That equates to a reduction from 10 residential floors to nine.

The other residential components of the project include a 430-unit, u-shaped apartment complex and 139-unit senior living building. An affordable housing component was considered but was determined to be unfeasible. A $3.4 million affordable housing contribution was made instead.

There are no changes to the 85,000-square-foot Wegmans. There will be 129,000 square feet of other retail space and 1,590 parking spaces. The development will also have a public plaza with seating, landscaping, shade structures, special paving, other site furnishings and public art.

The site is located at 2460 Mill Road and 2410 Mill Road, or Hoffman blocks four and five. If the changes are approved by the planning commission, Alexandria City Council's hearing is set for July 9.
