Taney Avenue Neighborhood Park Gets Attention in Alexandria

RunningBrooke and Rebuilding Together Alexandria will team up with the Dept. of Rec. to improve Taney Avenue Neighborhood Park.

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities PARKnership program announces a community partnership with RunningBrooke and Rebuilding Together Alexandria to improve Taney Avenue Neighborhood Park. The combined funds and resources from the two Alexandria organizations will be used towards building new preschool-age play spaces, nature paths, native tree plantings, and new site furnishings.

The 2.47-acre park, located at 4149 Taney Ave., was dedicated in 1976 through the Foxchase development, and consisted of picnic tables and an expansive open field. The improvements will retain the open field and passive character of the park, while introducing new features to make the park more inviting and better equipped to serve future and existing community needs, as recommended in the 2016 Neighborhood Parks Improvement Plan.
