Week Ahead in Alexandria: Kids Eat Free, DMV2Go, Civil War Wine Dinner, Art on the Avenue

Here's a look at what's coming up this week in Alexandria.

Monday

Kids Eat Free all day at Union Street Public House; kids under age 12 eat free from the children’s menu when an adult entree is purchased. Located at 121 S. Union St. in Alexandria.

Eisenhower West Small Area Plan Community Meeting takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central Library, 5005 Duke St. An open house begins at 6:30 p.m.

Monday Night Football at John Strongbow’s Tavern, 710 King St.; specials all night. Enjoy half off Strongbow’s sandwiches and select beers.

Tuesday

Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Public Meeting is set for 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnie Howard 9th Grade Center in the school cafeteria, 3801 W. Braddock Road. Access the agenda and more here.

Wednesday

BAR Old & Historic Alexandria District Hearing will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at City Hall Council Chamber, 301 King St.

Under the Canopy: Kids ages 4 and younger will enjoy a theatrical world inspired by the wonders of the rainforest. Whistling flowers, a clacking caterpillar, and brightly colored umbrella birds await. Under the Canopy is a 20-minute, interactive show. There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door. Scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at The Athenaeum, 201 Prince St.

Thursday

Bath & Body Works coming to Springfield Town Center is holding a hiring event from 10 a.m. to noon at JobLink 1900 Beauregard St. in Alexandria.

Friday

Got some business to do with the DMV? Head over to Market Square to DMV2Go, a mobile unit of the DMV that will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 301 King St. Here’s what you can do:

The handicapped-accessible* full service office-on-wheels is equipped to process all DMV transactions including:

  • Apply for or renew your ID card - available for adults and children.
  • Apply for or renew your driver’s license - take road and knowledge tests; get your picture taken. Reinstate driving privileges.
  • Apply for a Veteran ID card.
  • Get a copy of your driving record.
  • Obtain vehicle titles, license plates, decals, transcripts.
  • Order disabled parking placards or plates.
  • Apply for certified copies of Virginia birth certificates.
  • Get fishing and hunting licenses.
  • Recently moved? If so, stop in to update your address on your DMV record. You can also update your voter registration address and organ donor status.
  • Request a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to set up a myDMV account - receive DMV notices via email or phone; conduct secure transactions on the DMV website.
  • Obtain a “E-ZPass On-The-Go” transponder. You can also obtain a “E-ZPass Flex” transponder at the Northern Virginia mobile office.
  • Search for other state services through a wireless Virginia Internet portal.
